PRO-TOUR TEAMS SPONSORIZED BY CASTELLI AND VREDESTEIN COMPLETE LA VUELTA OF 2019
The competition concluded in Madrid, where Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) was crowned winner of the Vuelta 2019, with a winning margin of 2:33 minutes over Alejandro Valverde (Movistar).
Both teams traveled to Spain with the aim of gaining experience and fighting for a victory on stage.
The 8 runners of the AG2R La Mondiale Pro Cycling Team - riding decks such as the Fortezza Senso de Vredestein - have fought well for 3 weeks, escaping as many times as they could. The victory was close for Pierre and Dorian.
Geoffrey Bouchard crowned King of the Mountains
All these efforts were rewarded by the King of the Mountain: Geoffrey Bouchard. In the second week he competed hard to score as many points as possible, helped by his teammates.
A little over a year ago, Bouchard became the French champion in the amateur group. Now, he has been crowned King of the Mountain of the Tour of Spain 2019, his first Grand Tour.
Geoffrey Bouchard: "Three weeks ago, I could not have imagined finishing the Tour with the King of the Mountains t-shirt. I just wanted to finish my first Grand Tour with AG2R LA MONDIALE. I don't know what to think, especially when I see the winners of runners who they have achieved this before me! I started thinking about this jersey on the night of the ninth stage in Andorra, where I made two ascents and thirty kilometers in the lead. I thank my teammates who helped me every day in the search of this achievement."
The Team INEOS was looking for learning in this Grand Tour
Team INEOS, after changing the objectives at the beginning of the race in an attempt to infiltrate escapes and win victories on the stage, the team has ended up having a regular presence in movements during the second half of the race.
The sports director, Nicolas Portal, has affirmed that they were coming to the Tour with a different objective, to support the runners to learn, without trying to block them if they wanted to try something: "It has been a different Grand Tour of recent years. We did not come here with the specific ambition to finish on the podium or win the Tour”.
Among his best results of this edition, highlights the runner Tao Geoghegan Hart, who was close to taking a victory, with a third and second place in stages 15 and 16.
